Birmingham, only one hour away from UA has a lot to offer. Being a bigger city, it has tons of shopping, fine dining, and nightlife. You could go learn more about this state’s history at the Sloss Furnace Factory (if you go during Halloween, they have haunted tours).
Huntsville is located only two hours from Tuscaloosa. One of the best things to do in Huntsville is the Harmony Park Safari is not your everyday day trip, it is a drive-thru zoo. Yes, you read that right, it is a Safari Park that you can drive through in your own car. What’s better than giraffes, alpacas, and rhino’s poking their head through your window?
Craving the beach, but not the day long drive? Orange Beach is located four hours south of Tuscaloosa. Orange Beach gives off that small town, beach vibe and has plenty of things to do like hiking, swimming, stand up paddle boarding, and tons of other things. Orange Beach is perfect for a weekend getaway or spring break.
This medieval renaissance is “one of the largest running all volunteer events in the nation” as the website states.
