Welcome to The University of Alabama!

The A Book is a unique resource about life at the Capstone that is written entirely by students, for students. This tradition began in 1908 as a guidebook for students, however, publication ended in 1968. In 2012, the new A Book returned to campus and each year it has changed and evolved to better serve the students of today. This year, it combines the rich tradition of the A Book with the 21st century to bring important information together in a single website.

The A Book is written by students, for students. The A Book Editorial Board are a group of upperclassmen who can’t wait to share their knowledge and experiences from their time at UA. These six students come from different parts of the country, have different majors, are involved in different activities on campus, but what they have in common is a passion for The University of Alabama. They have written the four main sections you see across the top of this page: UA Traditions, Campus Life, Campus Resources, and Tuscaloosa. In each of these sections you will learn more about the university, identify resources and ways to get involved, and hear from current students. The newest feature of the A Book includes a monthly blog written by the E-Board reflecting on experiences from their first year on campus found under the Transition 101 tab. We hope you will take some time to explore our site to learn about life as a student at UA!

From your first day on campus to graduation, we hope students will refer back to the A Book for answers and guidance as you journey through your college experience. Author Blaine Lee Pardoe said, “We are all capable of change and growth; we just need to know where to begin.” This is the beginning. Welcome to the Alabama family
